Kingshot Press is a DIY publisher of radical books & ideas since 2014, based in Portland, OR & Athens, GR. Their mission statement is a simple one: be “literature for the unheard”—that is, books with themes like anti-authoritarianism, racial egalitarianism, feminism, class struggle, secularity, etc—fiction & non-fiction that’s anarchic in spirit and innovative in form.

King Shot Press is a publisher that isn’t afraid of risk - as they publish cutting edge artists and writers who are equal chance takers and pioneers in their craft; I wanted to ensure that I was creating a logo as bold as the stories they publish. A fun spin that I was given in the design prompt by the client was they wanted it to be inspired by the art style of comic legend: Jack Kirby - so that meant flat minimalism with heavy shadows!
